How we compare
Last updated: October 3, 2026
ComfortRated compares compact home heaters so you can choose the right one for your room without digging through a dozen sales pages. Here is exactly how we do it.
What we compare
- Power (watts): the most honest indicator of how much heat a heater can produce.
- Stated heating area: shown as the manufacturer states it, next to our 10-watt-per-square-foot rule of thumb so you can judge it.
- Safety features: listed only when the seller states them (tip-over switch, overheat protection, certifications).
- Weight, size, plug and voltage: so you know it fits your space and your outlets.
- Shipping countries and delivery times: shown for every model.
- Return policy: summarized in plain language from the seller's own terms, including who pays return shipping.
- Price: checked for a single unit and dated.
Where the information comes from
Specs, policies and prices come from each seller's product page and policy pages. When we buy and test a unit ourselves, we say so and add our own photos, measurements and video. CONFERIR
How the spec score works
Each heater gets a score from 0 to 10 in six areas, based only on what the seller states. The spec score is the average.
- Heating power: stated wattage (higher wattage = more room-heating ability; "not stated" scores low).
- Safety features: tip-over shut-off, overheat protection, auto shut-off and recognized certifications.
- Controls: thermostat, timer, remote.
- Return policy: length of the guarantee and who pays return shipping.
- Transparency: how completely the seller publishes specs (power, size, weight, voltage).
- Portability: size and weight for moving it between rooms.
The score compares specs on paper. It is not a lab test, and we update it when sellers change their specs or when we test a unit ourselves.
What we don't do
- We don't repeat claims we can't support, like "heats your whole house" or "cuts your bill in half".
- We don't invent star ratings or reviews.
- We don't sell products ourselves. Purchases, shipping and returns are handled by the seller.
